After months of deliberations during the last COVID lockdown, AstroWeek began in April 2023 as a bold new idea: to reconnect people with the night sky and to explore new destinations through astronomy, culture, and tourism. With each edition, it opens doors for locals, nurtures a community of enthusiasts, and puts new landscapes on the map of astro observation and dark-sky tourism.
First held in 2023 at Abbott Mount, Champawat, as Champawat Districts first structured astro-tourism pilot. It proved that a new lesser known region could be the stage for a new form of learning and leisure, combining astronomy, folklore, and environment.
